This workshop will train you in four topics
- Managing Time
- Writing Scientific Texts
- Working in Teams
- Building and Maintaining a Network
1. Managing Time
Time is a valuable good. We need to learn how to spend our time for activities
that are essential to reach our personal and career goals. These activities
concern learning, working, self-positioning as well as recreation, caring
for our relationships, contributing to others and having fun. In order to
work motivated and successfully on your projects, a clear vision of your
private and business life is very important. You have to learn, how to enjoy
already the way towards your goals, not only reaching them. Being good at
these skills is crucial for a successful and fulfilled life as a student, in your
job and in your private life.
You will learn
- about the importance of decisions
- how to define long term and short term goals
- how to reach your goals by planning on the basis of years, weeks and days
- how to avoid wasting time
- how to make meetings efficient
- how to deal with negative stress and how to minimize it
- how to work on your individual vision
2. Writing Scientific Texts
How do I write a master's thesis, an internship report, and a documentation
of the project work? You will learn what good scientific writing means, and
what the process of successful scientific working is about.
In the workshop you will learn
- how to overcome difficulties in writing
- how to meet the requirements of different types of texts you will have to
deal with at the NIT
- how to find relevant literature and how to handle it
- how to structure texts
- how to have a fruitful contact with your supervisor
- how to get ready in time.
3. Working in Teams
You will join many teams in your life. If you want to be successful, you
have to be a good team player. And: you need to be a good team player if
you want to be a good leader. Already for your time at the NIT working in
teams will be crucial. You will learn in teams, prepare for tests in teams, do
projects in teams. This workshop teaches you the essentials of how to become
a good team player and how to maintain a good spirit and motivation
in a team.
You will learn
- how to work well in a team
- how to manage problems and conflicts
- how to motivate a team
- how to use critique for motivating others, not for turning them down,
- how to learn from critique
- how to deal with different roles in a team
4. Building a Network
Building up your own individual network of people is crucial for your
career and your personal development. You will support people in your
network and they will support you. Your network allows you to get
information and to acquire knowledge, to be recommended to others and
to support others. All this is essential for your own well-being.
